Dave let john talk as he stared at the other sprite's tan hands. When John openeded thevlock Dave's eyes grew wide. "...youre right..." He hesitently ran his hand over the 'drawing' and recoiled when it proved to be sticky. "It doesn't smear so it's not a drawing." Dave furrowed his eyebrows and stared down at it lke it bit him.

"This is soooo cool!" John said happily. "Who are these people? Do you think they miss their necklace thingy? I would get it back to them but you'd need like 5 more fairies to carry this hunking piece of metal!" John lightly touched one of the pictures again, a smile coming to his face. Discovering something new was one of his favorite things. Sure, this wasn't exploring troll territory but it was finding a lost thing which was new and unknown. Things could get so boring without moments like this.

Dave decided not to mention that returning it to the human could expose them. Then he realized how much being a knight had taken the adventure out if him and smacked himself. Being cautious was good but being paranoid was just irritating. He silently nodded in agreement and lifted up the door on the lock to look at the engravings on the other side. It qas in favt very goegeous. He began to wonder what stories this strange paper and necklace held. He shrugged and stood up.

".... When I get older I kinda wanna leave and go look for stuff, you know! Like being apart of our community is great but-- imagine finding stuff like this EVERY DAY! How cool would that be?" John was trying to make conversation since Dave was normally kinda quiet. He used to talk lots more then he became a knight and suddenly everything was serious and the border between the trolls and fairies was dangerous and not even exciting at all! How lame was that? John was pretty much going to run away the second he got his job, which would probably be something stupid that you'd have to do without exploring or having fun. You wouldn't get to prank anyone or meet new people. The thought of that was just terrible!

Dave let the corners of his mouth tip upward at John's enthusiasm. He was pretty adorable when excited. "That would be pretty cool." He agreed, nodding his head. He bent forward and offered a hand to John. "What now?" Dave decided to let John choose. They both looked messy and covered in wheat, dandelion fuzz and dirt.

John thought for a moment, looking up at the big blue sky. "..." A mischievous grin came to his lips when he finally got an idea. "We could gooooo to the lake! Get all cleaned up and everything." It wasn't really a lake, more like a small spring that gathered up into a little area. It was big enough for fairies to call it a lake, though. Plus there were a lot of cool flowers, and little waterfalls and sometimes you could spot trolls there! It wasn't necessarily off-limits but it was definitely encouraged to bathe somewhere else. John figured that any protests Dave might have could easily be fixed with a quick pout.

Dave nodded and smiled, his eyes brightening a little. He hadn't gone down to that lake in a while. "Let's do it." He agreed. "I'll meet you down there." He jumped upward and caught himself with his wings, flying up above the wheat and to where they were standing previously. Dave hovered above the ground and picked up his sword and attached it to his belt again, proceeding to take off towards the lake. If he concentrated hard he could see John in the distance and began to pick up speed to catch up, his wings whizzing fast and his limbs held close to himself. Eventually he was beside John as they flew and he turned his head to smile at him. Staying beside John was quite the task. John loved to fly, and he was great at it. Dave had reflexes but John had speed and accuracy. Dave watched John, the smile on his face and his black hair whipping and twisting in the wind. He looked truly alive.

"Keeping up okay, Dave?" John called, a grin coming to his face. He ducked down a bit, to weave through the wheat and add some challenge to flying. In no time they were down by the little spring, Dave look exhausted but John was still so full of energy. He looked down at the clear water before practically tearing off his clothes. He let out a large "whoop" and jumped into the lake, this would probably not help his wings later but he'd worry about that when he got out. For now he needed to get clean and have fun while doing so!

"Couldn't be better." Although John was fast, Dave was better at making quick movements and followed easily through the wheat.

They landed next to the lake, (John a little less than gracefully,) and the first thing said John did was strip down to his trousers, hopping into the lake. Dave only had a few seconds to gawk at John's exposed chest and fumbled around with the belt on his tunic, getting his own clothes off. He then dove into the water, feeling the cool liquid wash over him. He popped his head out from underneath the water and felt water droplets running off of his wings and hair. John was.... what was John doing?

John really had no idea what he was doing. Or why he was doing it, to be completely honest. Well, maybe he was doing it because he was an idiot who liked to have fun. That was probably the most accurate statement. It didn't change the fact that he was totally climbing up a plant up to the falls so he could slide off with a-- probably with a leaf or whatever he found up there! He would fly but wet wings didn't make for safe travel. Plus it was never a bad time to improve your upper body strength! He was basically killing two birds with one stone... whatever that meant. How would you even kill two birds with one stone? Stones were often rather heavy and you would need a super heavy stone in order to kill a bird. Birds were tough b*tches.

Dave watched John, holding up a hand to shield his face from the sun. He guessed he was going to canon ball off the fall or something. Dave let his hand drop and swam back a few feet to give John space. He was quite the spazz sometimes and Dave didn't exactly want to be where he was going to land.

John climbed up and looked over the edge, woah it was actually kinda pretty up here. Should he savor the beauty or jump off the fall? In the end jumping off the fall seemed a lot more exciting than just enjoying the view. Which was actually pretty fun, even if he didn't manage to hit Dave with his large splash on the way down.
"I haven't been here in forever," John said with a gasp once he reached the surface. "We need to come back here more. I forgot how pretty everything was and how fun it is to jump off of stuff without having wings catch you."

Dave watched John jump off the fountain and flinched when droplets of water flew at his eyes. He nodded at John as he spoke. "I agree. Spending time here is great. I missed this. Sorry for being so damn busy. 'Kingdoms got me on a tight leash." He sighed in a sort of exasperated fashion and smiled. Just barely. But it was there.

"You're here now and that's all that matters!" John chimed, swimming lazy circles around Dave. "Right now the kingdom can't interfere with our fun times so we don't have to worry about it! What do you wanna do after we get all clean?" John wondered, starting to scrub some of the dirt off of his face and arms. That fall really did some damage to him. There were actually quite a few scrapes on his hands and face... well, it'd heal eventually so he shouldn't worry too much about it. He'd deal with it when Dave was on duty! He didn't want to spend time with his best bro dealing with some stupid injuries.

Too bad for John because Dave had already noticed and gently grabbed John's hand to examine his palm. He then looked up at John's face which was covered in a few bright pink scratches. "You alright? That was kind of a stupid idea, I'm telling you now." He gently placed John's hand back in the water and began to scrub dirt off his own face. He pulled his wings in close and ducked under water again to clean his wings of dirt and dandelion tufts.
